What was your transition to barefoot or minimalist running like?
My transition to minimalist running went like this. I was injured and took two months off. I then starting up again in Vibram FiveFingers doing 30 miles a week for four or five weeks. One night at midnight I went out and ran 26.2 miles, after that I did four or five 70 mile weeks. Those ended with a 31.16 mile run. It was a 15.2 mile race from a drop off point and back to town. I started at the finish, ran to the drop off point and back with everyone else.
As for my transition to barefoot running. One day the ground was covered in snow and it was 4 below zero. I ran the half mile back to my apartment from my Wellness Center with no shoes on. There, transitioned :)

NICE! Great use of blog space. And yes, I hate doggie snuggies even more, but at a discount store yesterday, I just about died. There in a big basket were SLANKYs! I thought, REALLY? A little too close to Skanky for me. No wonder the SLANKY never made it to infomercials, but then the historian in me wants to figure this out - which came first, the Snuggie or the Slanky? Way to rock your running world! How cool that you have only been running two years. I did not know this. The double marathon - very commendable. How bad did it hurt afterwards, and is that the PF factor? Was that when you tore? Just curious. I wish I could be doing more running right now, but WEEE! Don't tell, but I think C just bought be a spinning bike for Christmas! That completes my home gym and allows me to exercise LONGER while reading my computer science books! I am a glutton for punishment. Must multi-task. I am not sure, but will keep you filled in. The elliptical is pretty good for reading, the treadmill - well I can do 11 minute miles while reading for up to 45 minutes, and then the bouncing text gets to be too much. If I can rotate between the three, I can kill two birds with one stone.
:) Yeah I was looking for a way to put tabs on the top of my blog but that kind of fell through so this was the next best thing!
I believe I ran the day after my double marathon. Or tried, certainly two days after had a run in it.
A spin bike would be awesome! I have read while running before and I was doing something like 9 or 10 minute miles, that was actually during the double marathon. My head did sort of start to hurt from the bouncing text though!
I have tried the home work and work out multi task thing before and it does not pan out. This upcoming semester I would like to maybe get my workout in and then just do some studying on a bike or elliptical afterwards. Burn a few extra cals and get some reading in. We will see.
