First MAF test in 9 months

Today I went to an outdoor track and after a very easy 3 mile warm up ran 5 miles at 155 beats per minute, taking splits each mile.

The average pace was 7:26 per mile. My fastest MAF pace was 7:00 done indoor May of 2011. I basically consider these two paces very close. Being as the indoor test had no wind to deal with, it was naturally going to be faster. However the two paces are not comparable since the tests were completed in different conditions. In a few weeks I hope to do another MAF test again at the track.

This was my first test done at an outdoor track. The temp was 22 and there was a 14mph wind.

What does MAF stand for?

It stands for Maximum Aerobic Function.

It is a good benchmark test to gauge your fitness. Good changes to see would be the overall pace lowering and/or the paces changing less over the 5 miles that I test.
