Day 4 Low Fat Raw Vegan

Monday May 28th 2012

Today was super easy. I ate breakfast of cantaloupe, went for a run and had the banana and half a melon after the run. Went for a hike, ate after the hike. Ate more. Ate some more. It was a really good day! I was almost never tempted at all, and when I was, I ate some fruit :) Whenever I was hungry and craving something non raw, I would just eat something raw. That fixed the problem!

However,

One of the main goals of low fat raw vegan experiment is to not restrict your calories to lose weight and reach optimal health, but to eat a surplus of calories to maximize nutrient and fuel intake, to THRIVE. Unfortunately I still have not managed to eat enough calories, only 2200 today! It's difficult when an entire watermelon only has 500 calories in it.
  • Morning
    • 1 Cantaloupe
    • 1 Banana
    • .5 Watermelon
  • AM 10.25 mile trail run
  • Afternoon
    • 1 Pear
    • 3 cups steamed frozen veggies with .5 tbsp Peanut Sauce
    • .5 Watermelon
  • PM 7 mile hike
  • Evening
    • 1lb Strawberries
    • Salad with broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, and dressing
    • 1 Apple
    • 1 Orange
    • 1 Pineapple
Calories: 2200
CHO: 88%
PRO: 8%
FAT: 4%

Best thing about eating raw. Clean up is SO EASY!

Love what you are doing! I do it myself most of the time. I do indulge upon occasion with potato chips. I just love them so much!
While I can no longer call myself vegan, I do eat plant based as much as possible. I am finding a balance between a 90% raw, plant-based diet, with a smattering of grilled chicken/fish once or twice a week, seems to be working well with the amount of training I am doing. Glad to see it working so well for you!

If I end up sticking with raw, instead of my previous "paleo vegan" diet, I imaging I will end up doing something similar to what you are. 95% of my calories raw and the other 5% coming from a few meals that I cook with Desi each week sound perfectly fine to me :)
